Skill Area: Research Project Proposal

What I learned: In this assignment I learned how to develop a research question, conduct a literature analysis, create a logic model, and develop a research proposal. 

Reflection to assignment: Developing a research project proposal was a daunting task because of the complexity of international issues.  It is difficult to see a large, international issue and break it down into one thesis question.  Anticipating the needs of the stakeholders, activities to be performed, assumptions that would be made, external factors to be considered, and other related variables was challenging.  This assignment cultivated my skills and confidence to develop a research project proposal by utilizing a logic model.   I am confident that I can use the skills and tools developed during this assignment for my research project and I will be able to develop a more rigorous, thorough proposal after completing this mock proposal.  To make the project more realistic, each student also presented the background information and proposal to a class of graduate students and a professor evaluated the methods of the proposal.

Relevance to profession: As a graduate student, my own research project will utilize the same methodology as this research project proposal.  I will be conducting a literature review and develop a logic model as the first steps to writing my project proposal.  Presenting the proposal to the class and being evaluated by the professor increased my level of understanding for my future research aspirations.
